20-20-1 International Symposium of Underwater Archaeology / 16-18 December 2021

DiveSafe project was presented during the 20-20-1 Simposio Internazionale di Archeologia Subacquea (“20-20-1 International Symposium of Underwater Archaeology”) held in Taranto on 16-18 December 2021 and organized by the Italian National Superintendency for the Underwater Cultural Heritage. Μr. Salvatore Medaglia, presented the project, its objectives and achieved results so far, the validation trials and their scope while he informed the audience that some of the underwater archaeologists of the Italian National Superintendency for the Underwater Cultural Heritage have been selected as end-users during the validation sessions in the Marine Protected Area of Capo Rizzuto (KR).
In general, the “20-20-1 Simposio Internazionale di Archeologia Subacquea” focused on three important topics related to underwater archaeology:
- The 20th anniversary of the UNESCO 2001 Convention for the protection of the underwater Cultural Heritage;
- The 20th anniversary of the “Restoring Underwater” project;
- The first anniversary of the institution of the Italian National Superintendency for the Underwater Cultural Heritage – Italian Ministry of Culture.
