EASME/EMFF/2017/1.2.1.12 – Sustainable Blue Economy

Co-funded by the EMFF programme of the European Union

The Università Politecnica delle Marche (UnivPM), founded in 1969, is based in Ancona. It has 5 faculties (Agriculture, Economy, Engineering, Science and Medicine and Surgery) with about 17,000 students, 545 professors and researchers, and 565 members of technical and administrative staff. The academic programmes offer 39 degree courses, 9 first and second level post-graduate diplomas, 4 specialization courses, 33 specialization schools and 9 Ph.D. schools.

The Department of Information Engineering (DII) of UnivPM is structured in a number of research groups having homogeneous scientific interests. The high quality of the developed research activity is documented by a very large number of publications yearly produced and included in top-level international journals, conference proceedings and books chapters. LabMACS (Laboratory of Modelling, Analysis and Control of Dynamical systems – DII) researchers are involved in DiveSafe project. They have a long experience in underwater robotics and marine technologies since many decades and they have been participating in different national and international research projects. In particular, the research activity focuses on the development of tools and technologies for documentation and monitoring of the underwater environment (costal and off-shore). DII and LabMACS participate in the research infrastructure of ISME (Italian InterUniversity Center for the Marine Environment – www.isme.unige.it) and strictly cooperate with the Italian Navy (CSSN – Centre for Naval Support and Experimentation). The Department of Industrial Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (DIISM) is also involved in DiveSafe with the know-how on sealed containers for underwater applications up to 300m. DIISM promotes excellence in most of the research sectors of interest to Industrial Engineering and Mathematical Sciences.
